PHLE Tube Tests

Phlebotomy study stack, which tubes correspond to which tests

What color tube would you draw if your patient had a PT, PTT, or D-Dimer ordered? Light Blue
What test(s) would be run on a gray top tube drawn from a patient? Hemoglobin A1C, or Blood alcohol levels
What tests might be run on a tiger top red tube? CMP, HFP, CK, Lipid, Troponin, BMP
What color tubes could you use to test a patients troponin levels? Green, Red, Or Tiger Top
What color tube would you use to draw a CBC on a patient? Purple/ Lavender
If you had a type and screen ordered on a patient, what color tube would you use? Pink
If you were testing for trace metals, not including lead, what color tube would you use? Royal Blue
If you had an H&H ordered on a patient, what color tube would you use? Purple/Lavender
What tubes might you use to draw a CMP on a patient? Red, Green, or Tiger Top
What tube might you use if you had an ESR ordered on a patient? black
What tube would you use for STAT serum? Orange
