Color terms

QuestionAnswer
How do you perceive white? You perceive white when all light is reflected back to you eye
How do you perceive black? You perceive black when no light is reflected back to you eye
What is hue? Hue is a reflection of wavelengths of light. Different hues are different wavelengths of light
What are the primary colors? Red, Blue, and Yellow
What are the secondary colors? Orange, Violet, and green
What are the tertiary colors? Red- violet, Red- orange, Blue green, Blue Violet, yellow- green, and yellow-orange
What is a saturated color? Colors with no white or black in them
What three groups make up the color wheel? Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary
What is a tint? A saturated color mixed with pure white
What is a shade? A saturated color mixed with pure black
What are three colors that are considered to be warm colors? Red, Orange, and yellow
What are three colors that are considered to be cool colors? Blue, violet, and green
What are the five neutral colors? Black, white, brown, tan, and grey
What are the six types of color harmonies? Monochromatic, Analogous, Complementary, Triadic, Split Complementary, and Neutral
What is a monochromatic color harmony? Different tints and shades of one color
What is an analogous color harmony? 3 or more colors are used that are next to each other on the color wheel
What is a complementary color harmony? Colors opposite each other on the color wheel
What is a triadic color harmony? 3 colors that are located with in equal distance from each other
What is a split complementary scheme? Using any color and the the 2 colors next to that colors complement
What is a neutral color scheme? A room using browns, tans, blacks, whites, and greys
