crystallization the process by which atoms are arranged to form a material that has a crystal structure.
solution a mixture in which one substance is dissolved in another
vein a narrow channel or slab of a mineral that is different from the surrounding rock
rock forming mineral minerals that make up most of the earths crust - about 20
granite generally light colored rock that has high silica content - continental crust
basalt dark colored rock that has low silica content - oceanic crust
grains particles of minerals or rocks
texture the look and feel of a rocks surface
igneous rock forms from the cooling of lava or magma
sedimentary rock forms when small particles of rocks or the remains of plants and animals are pressed and cemented together
metamorphic rock forms when rock is changed by heat and pressure or by chemical reactions
