Definition | Explanation |

by peaceful means | Not in a state of war or disagreement, not involving violence |
candidate | A person who applies for a job or is nominated for election |
censor | An official who examines books, films, news, etc. that are about to be published and suppresses any parts that are considered obscene, politically unacceptable, or a threat to security. |
chant | A repeated rhythmic phrase, typically one shouted or sung in unison by a crowd |
civil/human right | A right which is believed to belong to every person |
civil unrest | A state of dissatisfaction, disturbance, and agitation, typically involving public demonstrations or disorder |
coalition | A temporary alliance for combined action, especially of political parties forming a government |
constituency | A group of voters in a specified area who elect a representative to a legislative body |
electoral system | A legal system for making democratic choices |
e-petition | A petition that is published on the Internet to be signed by online supporters |

elderly | An elderly person is old. Many people now think that this word is offensive but it is often used in talking about policies and conditions that affect old people |

Flatter | To praise someone in order to get something that you want, especially in a way that is not sincere |

Get abducted | To take someone away from your home, family etc using force |

Healthcare | The services that look after people’s health |
Hold somebody/something up | Throw/hurl insults at someone |
