How do you convert degrees Celius to Kelvin? Add 273 to the degrees Celsius

What is the coldest temperature on the Kelvin scale known as? What do we think theoretically happens at this temperature? 0K known as absolute zero. We think theoretically that all molecular motion will stop.
What is human body temperature on the Fahrenheit and Celsius scale? 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit which is equal to 37 degrees Celsius
What are the three types of graphs used most commonly by scientists? Line, bar, and circle graphs
Give two reasons why scientists use the metric system. To communicate with scientists in other countries since it is used internationally and it is easier to convert since it is based on powers of 10
What is the standard unit of force in the metric system? Newton
Explain why objects sink and float in water based on density. If objects are more dense than water, then they wil sink. If objects are less dense than water, then they will float.
What piece of equipment serves as a base for all of the clamps used in lab? Ring stand
In early times (Middle Ages0 before there were measurement standards, what did people use as a reference for measuring items? Body parts. (Ex. length of foot; length from elbow to finger was a cubit)

2 subfields of earth and space science are meteorology and astronomy. What does each study? Meteorology studies changes in the Earth's atmosphere and weather; astronomy studies the composition, movement, and location of planets and stars

What piece of lab equipment measures temperature? thermometer
What is the dependent variable in an experiment that shows how the volume of a gas changes with changes in temperature? Volume of gas

How do you correctly dilute an acid? Pour acid into the water.
How do you correctly note the odor of a substance in science lab? Hold the piece of glassware away from you and using your hand, gently wave the fumes towards you. Don't directly inhale the fumes.
Convert 2000 cc to cubic meters 0.002 cubic meters
Predict what the mass of 85 ml of water would be in the lab. 85 g
Look at page 32 question 18. After looking at the accompanying photo, answer all 3 parts to the question. independent variable is the pot (material of); a constants are the vegetables or ingredients; and the dependent variable could be taste, cooking time, heat required to cook, etc.
What variable is shown on the y-axis of a line or bar graph? Dependent variable
What is the equation for density? Mass/volume
