Why was the Ottoman Empire referred to as the "Old sick man of Europe?" Leadership was poor( greedy). They were losing important battles.
Who won the war and now controlled the Middle East? Britain and France
Why did Britain and France want control of the Middle East? They wanted to control the oil supplies found in the Middle East.
Which two religious groups hate each other in the Middle East? Shia and Sunni
After the Europeans took control, how does conflict erupt out of the Middle East? The Europeans did not pay attention to the religious tensions in the Middle East as they began to divide the area and form countries. They also did not pay attention to the Kurds as they were now divided amongst three different countries.
How did the Europeans control the Middle East? By partitioning the land and creating countries.
