Term | Definition |

Integer | A whole number; can be positive or negative |
Rational Number | Group of numbers that include positive and negative integers, decimals, and fractions |
Additive Inverse | Two numbers that add to 0; opposites (i.e. 5 and -5) |
Opposite | Numbers that are the same distance away from zero in the other direction; additive inverses. Ex: 4 and -4 |
Commutative Property | States that order does not matter for addition and multiplication |
Distance | A positive number that describes how far apart two numbers are |
Change | A number that describes how far apart two numbers are AND also shows a direction |
Absolute Value | Describes the distance a number is from zero; always positive |
Equivalent | Equal in value |
