Bacteriostatic: Inhibits protein synthesis of susceptible bacteria, causing cell death capable of toxicity to renal and ears indicated for strains of anaerobes, streptococci, staphylococci, pneumococci used for MRSA bacterias; antibiotic of choice for antibiotic induced psuedomembranous colitis used for HSV 1 & 2 and VZV, which causes chiken pox and shingles metabolized through liver: therefore cannot be taken if liver does not have enough enzymes
Oral tetracyclines used for acne, uncomplicated adult urethral, endocervical, or rectal infections caused by C. tracho gentamycin, amikacin inihibits protien sythesis in bacteria by binding to S50 ribosomal subunit destroys bacteria by binding to wall and inhibits growth of cell wall. acyclovir antiviral antitubucular
