Football Rules and things you should know

TermDefinition
Quarterback A player positioned behind the center who directs a team's offensive play.
Center The center is the innermost lineman of the offensive line on a football team's offense.
Receiver an offensive position, the key player in most of the passing plays.
Interception an act of a defensive player catching a forward pass
Sack when the quarterback (or another offensive player acting as a passer) is tackled behind the line of scrimmage before he can throw a forward pass
Fumble when a player who has possession and control of the ball loses it before being downed (tackled) or scoring
Line of scrimmage An imaginary line crossing the field which both offensive and defensive players cannot cross until the football is snapped and the play has started. It
Downs a period in which a play transpires in
Grip The top half of the ball with finger spread over the laces
Touchdown a six-point score made by carrying or passing the ball into the end zone of the opposing side, or by recovering it there following a fumble or blocked kick.
extra point when scoring team is allowed to attempt to score one extra point by kicking the ball through the uprights in the manner of a field
saftey The ball carrier is tackled or forced out of bounds in his own end zone.
