QuestionAnswer
Two computer disks and three notebooks cost $17. Five disks and four notebooks cost $32. Find the price of each item A. Notebook = $4 : Disk =$3 B. Notebook =$3 : Disk =$4 C. Notebook =$5 : Disk =$2 Your equations should be 2x + 3y = 17 and 5x + 4y = 32. Use either the substitution method or addition method. Correct answer: A. Notebook = $3 Disk =$4
Write a system of equations using x and y for the two scenarios below. A. The total of two numbers is 16. The first number plus 2 more then 3 times the second equals 18. B. A smaller number and a larger numbers sum is 15 and difference is 7. A. x + y = 16 and x + 2 + 3y = 18 B. x + y = 15 and y - x = 7
Over the season player x scored 60 more points then player y who was the second highest scorer. Together, they scored 1362 points through out the season. Find out how many each player scored through out the season. Your equations should be x - y = 60 and x + y = 1362 Use substitution or addition method to solve Correct answer: x = 711, y = 651 Plug them back into each equation to check solution
Last month, Frank bought two DVDs and five CDs from the store for $65. This month, he bought four DVDs and three CDs for $81. Solve a system of equations to find the price of each. Your equations should be 2x + 5y = 65 and 4x + 3y = 81 Use the best method to solve the two equations. Correct answer: DVD = $15; CD = $7
What are the equations for rowing upstream and downstream in a body of water? D = R X T Distance = Rate X Time. Downstream = x + y Upstream = x - y.
The circus that is in town locally charges $374 for 4 adults and 2 children and $285 for 2 adults and 3 children. Find the price of admission for adult and for child. Your equations should be 4x + 2y = $374 and 2x + 3y = $285. Use the best method to solve to equations. Correct answer: x = 69, y = 49
