Stains

QuestionAnswer
Basic Dyes salt in which the color in the positive ion; used for bacterial stains
Acidic Dyes salt in which the color is in the negative ion; used for negative staining.
Gram Stain differential stain that classifies bacteria into two groups; gram positive and gram negative
Acid-fast stain differential stain used to identify bacteria that are not decolorized by acid-alcohol.
Capsule stain an outer, viscous covering on some bacteria composed of a polysaccharide or polypeptide
Endospore a resting structure formed inside some bacteria
