What was on of the Germanic invaders' weaknesses? They couldn't read or write.
How did the Latin language die down? German - speaking people mixed in with Roman - peaking people; Latin wasn't known to everyone. People stopped speaking it.
What is one of the results of the fall of Rome? Disruption of trade
Describe a manor. A lord's estate and the economic system
What did a Medieval Manor have? A church, cottages, farmland to grow crops and domesticate animals, forest-provided wood for fuel, mill-water-powered mill for grinding grain, manor house-the place where the lord and his family lived, castle - lords, lesser lords and knights
What was the social class structure? King / pope, nobles, lesser lords - vassals. knights, peasants / serfs
Eight features of civilization: Government: monarchy, religion: Christianity, Class Structure: Feudalism
What was the main group of the Germanic trade? The Franks
Who was the most important in this time of history? The knights; they were constantly at war; most important warriors
What happened when nobles won battles? They have some of their land to their knights.
Who was allowed to train to become a knight? Only a boy of noble birth.
What was similar to knighthood? Someone's educational career; elementary school, middle school, high school, and college.
