Classroom Management

TermDefinition
Classroom Management Refers to the steps teachers take to organize their classroom for optimal learning.
Authoritarian Style Have regulations for everything and consequences for every infraction.
Permissive Style Have some rules and expectations, but they rarely follow through with consequences when students fail to meet them.
Authoritative Style Have high expectations for students' behavior and clearly explain why some behaviors are acceptable and others are not.
School Policies Set overall guidelines and generally address major issues such as attendance and dress codes.
Class Rules Guidelines for student behavior specific to a class or teacher.
Classroom Procedures Translate the class rules into concrete actions expected of students.
Nonverbal Cues Eye contact, body language, gestures, and physical closeness to stop minor misbehavior.
