USIDMS Renal Doppler
What is the criteria for Renal Doppler stenosis? | Stenosis > 60% |
Why would someone get a renal Doppler? | Uncontrolled hypertension, decreased renal function, abdominal bruit |
Which renal vein is longer? | The left renal vein is longer. |
Which renal artery is shorter? | The left renal artery is shorter. |
What is the course of the blood flow within the kidney? | Renal artery -> Segmental arteries -> Interlobar arteries -> Arcuate arteries -> Interlobular arteries |
What does a direct Renal Doppler evaluate? | Proximal, middle, and distal renal artery segments as well as the segmental arteries |
What does a indirect Renal Doppler evaluate? | Segmental and interlobar arteries |
How do you calculate the Renal- to - Aortic ratio? | Take the highest renal artery velocity and divide it by the peak systolic velocity of the aorta. |
What are the normal characteristics for kidney blood flow? | High flow velocity (PSV 100 +/- 20cm/s) Low resistance (RI < 0.75) High diastolic flow (EDV 30 +/- 5cm/s) |
What is the criteria for >60% stenosis to occur? | RAR >3.5 PSV >180cm/s Post stenotic turbulence Low flow velocity in the distal segment of the renal artery |
