Mountain Breeze A mountain breeze is wind that travels down from a mountain to a valley.
Valley Breeze When the valley floor warms during the day, warm air rises up the slopes of surrounding mountains and hills to create a valley breeze.
Global Wind Winds are named by the direction from which they blow. The globe is encircled by six major wind belts,
Trade Wind The surface air that flows from these subtropical high-pressure belts toward the Equator is deflected toward the west in both hemispheres by the Coriolis effect.
Westerlies Prevailing winds from the west toward the east in the middle latitudes between 30 and 60 degrees latitude.
Polar Easterlies Are the dry, cold prevailing winds that blow from the high-pressure areas of the polar highs at the North and South Poles towards low-pressure areas within the Westerlies at high latitudes.
Doldrums An equatorial region of the Atlantic Ocean with calms, sudden storms, and light unpredictable winds.
Horse Latitudes A belt of calm air and sea occurring in both the northern and southern hemispheres between the trade winds and the westerlies.
Evaporation Evaporation is a type of vaporization of a liquid that occurs from the surface of a liquid into a gaseous phase that is not saturated with the evaporating substance.
Condensation The conversion of a vapor or gas to a liquid.
Precipitation any product of the condensation of atmospheric water vapor that falls under gravity.[2] The main forms of precipitation include drizzle, rain, sleet, snow, and hail.
Transpiration the process by which moisture is carried through plants from roots to small pores on the underside of leaves, where it changes to vapor and is released to the atmosphere. Transpiration is essentially evaporation of water from plant leaves.
