TermDefinition
Ratio To compare two different quantities to each other.
Variables Numbers that we do not know and use a letter for replace the empty space.
expressions is a mathematical phrase that can contain ordinary numbers, variables (like x or y) and operators (like add,subtract,multiply, and divide).
Order of Operations PEMDAS. This is the order of operations and you start out with Parenthesis, then exponents, multiplication, division, addition, subtraction.
Commutative Property of addition The Commutative Property is the one that refers to moving stuff around. For addition, the rule is "a + b = b + a"; in numbers, this means 2 + 3 = 3 + 2.
Commutative Property of Multiplaction The Commutative Property is the one that refers to moving stuff around. The commutative property of multiplication states that two numbers can be multiplied in either order.
Associative Property of addition The associative property states that you can add or multiply regardless of how the numbers are grouped. By 'grouped' we mean 'how you use parenthesis'. In other words, if you are adding or multiplying it does not matter where you put the parenthesis.

Evaluating expressions When we substitute a specific value for each variable, and then perform the operations, it's called evaluating the expression
Distributive Property of Adding and Multiplying This property says that multiplying a sum of "numbers or variables" by "a number" equals to the same result as multiplying "each number or variable" by "the number" and then adding the products together.
Bionomial an algebraic expression of the sum or the difference of two terms.
Equivalent expressions Equivalent expressions are expressions that are the same, even though they may look a little different. If you plug in the same variable value into equivalent expressions, they will each give you the same value when you simplify.
Factoring expressions is the process of finding the factors: Factoring: Finding what to multiply together to get an expression. It is like "splitting" an expression into a multiplication of simpler expressions.
Rates rate is a ratio that compares two quantities having different units of measure.
Trinomial a math equation that has three terms which are connected by plus or minus notations
