liquid to a gas evaporation
solid to a gas without becoming liquid sublimation
liquid flowing viscosity
The 3 states of Matter Solid, Liquid, Gas
atoms in a solid move? packed together
atoms in a liquid move? freely.
atoms in a gas move? very spread out.

shape and volume of a liquid. no definite shape
shape and volume of a gas. Describe the shape and volume of a gas. No definite volume, no definite shape
What happens when atoms are heated? They move faster and begin to spread out.
What happens when atoms are cooled? move slower
What is conduction? Heat transfers through direct contact.
What is convection? Warm air rises and the cool air sinks.
What is radiation? Heat transfers through the air in waves.
What happens to the amount of heat during the melting process? Heat is added
What happens to the amount of heat during the condensation process? Heat is removed
Anything that has mass and takes up space. Matter
What happens to the kinetic energy of an object when the speed of an object increases? The energy will increase.
What happens to pressure as the temperature increases? The Pressure increases.
two or more substances are combined Mixture
substance made out of only one kind of matter. Pure substance
Mass divided by volume. Density
does not have a definite shape or definite volume and the particles have been broken apart. Plasma
