Artifact | objects created by and used by humans |

BC on a timeline | Before Christ |

BCE on a timeline | Before Common Era |
Geography | study of the earth’s physical and cultural features |
Climate | pattern of weather conditions in a certain area over a long period of time |
Environment | all the living and nonliving things that affect life in an area |
Resources | materials found in the earth that people need and value |
Ancient | very old, or from a long time ago |
Hominid | Early ancestor of humans |
Paleolithic, Mesolithic, Neolithic Eras | Old, Middle and New Stone Ages |
Hunter Gatherers | people who hunt animals and gather wild plants, seeds, fruits, and nuts to survive |
Migrate | To Move |
Ice Ages | period in history where many places had long period of freezing weather |
Land bridge | a strip of land connecting two continents; in ancient history we talk about land bridge that connected Asia to North America |
Domestication/Domesticated | process of changing plants or animals to make them more useful to humans (for example, using cows to farm fields) |
Nomads | people who move from place to place |
Adapt | when people change their way of life to suit their new environment |
Agriculture | Farming |
