Compass Rose | tool on a map that orients the map by showing the location of North, South, East or West on the map |
Delta | an area where a river deposits soil into the ocean |
Demographics | Characteristics of a population |
Developed Country | A country that is Industrialized |
Developing Country | country that is working towards industrialization |
Emigrant | a person who moves into a country from another country. (They left "this" country) |
Equator | The 0 degree latitude line divides the Earth into Northern and Southern Hemisphere. |
Globe | A 3 dimensional representation of the Earth |
Gulf | a large part of the ocean that extends into the land |
Immigrant | a person who left the country where they were born and moved to another country (They "came" to the new country) |
Internal Migration | is movement of population with in a country |
International Migration | is movement of people from one country to another |
Life Expectancy | The average number of years a person can expect to live. |
Literacy Rate | The percentage of a population that can read or write. |

Push Factor | the reasons people may leave a region |
Refugee | A person who is forced to Migrate usually due to famine, war or persecution. |
Relative Location | A general description of where something is located |
Scale | tool on a map that describes the ratio or proportion of distance and location on the map |
Strait | A narrow body of water connecting 2 larger bodies of water |
Thematic Map | Type of map that is made to present specific types of information including subjects such as climate, vegetation, resources, historical expansion, etc... |

Urbanization | The growth of cites, typically a result of migration |
