transbordador espacial (space shuttle) *vehiculo espacial que se puede volver a utilizar, que despega como un cohete y aterriza como un avion
estacion espacial (space station) una plataforma orbital de largo plazo desde la cual pueden lanzarse otros vehiculos o en la que pueden realizarse investigaciones cientificas
sonda espacial (probe) *un vehiculo sin tripulacion que transporta instrumentos cientificos al espacio para recopilar informacion
orbitador (orbiter) *nave espacial disenada para orbitar alrededor de un planeta, luna u otro cuerpo sin aterrizar sobre la superficie de dicho cuerpo
modulo de aterrizaje (lander) *un vehiculo automatizado, no tripulado, disenado para aterrizar sin peligro en un cuerpo extraterrestre *con frecuencia lleva equipo para explorar ese cuerpo
rover (rover) *vehiculo que se usa para explorar la superficie de un cuerpo extraterrestre
satelite artificial (artificial satellite) cualquier objeto hecho por los seres humanos y colocado en orbita alrededor de un cuerpo en el espacio
cohete (rocket) *maquina que usa gas para vencer la atraccion gravitacional terrestre y que se utiliza para lanzar al espacio vehiculos tripulado y no tripulados
