Prime Meridian An imaginary line that divides the Earth into the Eastern & Western Hemispheres
Ocean A very large body of water
Symbol Small drawings on a map that stand for something
Map Key Tell what each symbol used on a map means
Cardinal Directions North, South, East, West
Intermediate Directions NE, NW, SE, SW
Hemisphere Half of the Earth
Map Title Tells you what part of the world is shown on the map
Continents A very large body of land
Equator An imaginary line that divides the Earth into the Northern and Southern Hemispheres
Island A body of land that is surrounded by water on all sides
Volcano A vent or crack in the Earth's surface through which molten which molten rock escapes
Peninsula A body of land that is surrounded by water on three of its sides
Valley A long hollow between hills or mountains
Lake A large body of water completely surrounded by land
Mesa A rise of land having a flat top and steep walls
Mountain A large elevation of the Earth's surface
River A stream of water of a large size
Bay A body of water that extends into the land
Gulf Part of an ocean or sea partly enclosed by land
