Important TPACK content
Term | Definition |

Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) | Framework that identifies the knowledge teachers need to teach effectively with technology. |
Content Knowledge (CK) | Refers to the body of knowledge and information that teachers teach and that students are expected to learn in a given subject, such as math, science, social studies, and English language arts. |
Pedagogical Knowledge (PK) | The method and practice of teaching especially as an academic subject or theoretical concept. |
Technological Knowledge (TK) | Knowledge about certain ways of thinking about and working with technology, tools, and resources. |
Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) | The combination of both content and pedagogy. The teacher must know exactly how to get the concepts across to the students. TCK requires an understanding of where students are coming from in reference to the subject being taught. |
Technological Content Knowledge (TCK) | The understanding of the manner in which technology and content influence and constrain one another. Teachers need to understand which specific technologies are best suited for addressing subject-matter learning in their domains. |
Technological Pedagogical Knowledge (TPK) | The understanding of how teaching and learning can change when particular technologies are used in particular ways. This includes knowing the pedagogical affordances and contraints of a range of technological tools as they relate to pedagogical designs. |
Lee S. Shulman | Educational psychologist who made contributions to the study of teaching, assessments of teaching, and the fields of science. The framework of TPACK builds on Shulman's construct of pedagogical content knowledge to include technological knowledge. |
Knowledge | Facts, information, ad skills acquired by a person through experience or education. |
Technology | The application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes. |
