Term | Definition |

Accommodations | Changes that allow a person with a disability to participate fully in an activity. Examples include, extended time, different test format, and alterations to a classroom. |
Modifications | Individualized changes made to the content and performance expectations for students. Examples of Modifications:Quantity, Output and Alternate Goals |
Inclusion | services that place students with disabilities in general education classrooms with appropriate support services. . An example: Relate learning to children’s lives using interest inventories. |
Instructional Technology | the theory and practice of design, development, utilization, management and evaluation of processes and resources for learning. Example - Interactive Collaboration, Surveys/Polls |
Assistive technology | any item, piece of equipment, or product system whether acquired commercially off the shelf, modified, or customized, that is used to increase, maintain, or improve functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities i.e. software for students |
Lead and Support in Co-Teaching | one teacher has the primary responsibility for planning and teaching, while the other teacher moves around the classroom helping individuals and observing particular behaviors. |
Parallel Teaching in Co-Teaching | the teacher and student teacher plan jointly but split the classroom in half to teach the same information at the same time. I.e. If the room had two computers, each teacher could use a computer to model the use of the Internet |
Station Teaching in Co-Teaching | Both teachers divide the instructional content, and each takes responsibility for planning and teaching part of it. .i.e. , three or more science stations, each containing a different experiment |
Alternative Teaching in Co-Teaching | one teacher manages most of the class while the other teacher works with a small group inside or outside of the classroom. i.e. a teacher could take an individual student out to catch him/her up on a missed assignment |
Team Teaching in Co-Teaching | Both teachers are: responsible for planning, share the instruction, lessons are taught by both teachers who actively engage in conversation, not lecture, to encourage discussion by students, actively involved in the management of the lesson and discipline |
