What is a quatrain? A four line stanza.
What is a stanza? A group of lines with in a poem that go together.
What is alliteration? Repeating the begging constant sound.
What is onomatopoeia? Words that sound like what they are.
What is assonance? Repetition of the vowel sound in a word.
What is consonance? Repetition of a constant sound found anywhere in the word.
What is repetition? Repeating a word or phrase to add rhyme.
What is end rhyme? Rhyming of 2 words at the end of two lines of poetry.
What is internal rhyme Rhyming with words within one line of poetry.
What is a complex sentence? A sentence that consist of 1 main or independent clause.
What is a simple sentence? A sentence that has 1 predicate and a subject.
What is a compound sentence? A sentence that consist of 2 or more independent or main clauses.
What is a dependent clause? A clause that depends on the independent clause. *cant stand alone*
What is a independent clause? A clause that can stand alone as a sentence.
What is a Ballad? A poem that tells a story with a sad ending.
What is a Blank verse? Unrhymed poem with a meter. Each line is ten syllables.
What is a Epic? A long poem which describes the adventure of a hero.
What is a Cinquain? A poem that is 5 lines in length and there are two types.
What is a Limerick? A humorous verse. 5 lines.
What is a Lyric? A short poem. The purpose is to express a feeling.
What is a Free Verse? Poem that does not require a meter or rhyme scheme. *don't confuse with Blank Verse*
What is refrain? Line, lines, or stanzas repeated. *Not Repetition*
What is rhyme scheme ? A pattern of lines rhyming.
