6th Grade Full Year Social Studies Vocabulary

TermDefinition
Embargo Official ban of trade or other commercial activity with a particular country for political reasons
Emissions Any pollution or waste released into the air; often released by cars
Empire An extensive group of states or countries under a single suprime authority
Entrepreneur Someone who has an idea for a good or service and takes the risk to produce it
Epidemic Widespread outbreak of infectious disease
Ethnic A group of people who have the same language, culture, or religion
Euro Currency, or money of the European Union
Fascism A political philosophy in which total powers is given to a dictator and individual freedoms are denied
Federal A group of states (or other small political units) give certain power and authority to a central government
Figurehead A leader who represents a country but doesn't have many duties in the government
GDP Gross Domestic Product The total market value of the goods and services produced by a country in that specific year
Globalization The linking of nations through trade, information, technologies, and communication
