What is an example of a mixture? Salad
What is it called when two or more substances are evenly mixed together and cannot be easily separated? a solution
What is an example of a solution? Chocolate milk
What is volume? The amount of space that matter takes up
What will you find if you multiply the length of a solid rectangle times it's height times it's width? Volume
A volume of water sufficient to cover an object is placed in a graduated cylinder and the volume read. The object is added to the cylinder and the volume read again. The difference between the two volumes is what? the volume of the object
The volume of what type of objects can be found by the displacement method? an irregularly shaped object
In a liquid how are the particles spaced? Close together but not tightly packed
In a liquid are the particles moving fast? no
In a solid how are the particles spaced? tightly packed
In a solid how are the particles moving ? slow
In a gas how are the particles spaced? far apart
In a gas how are the particles moving? fast
