Hydration | Occurs when certain minerals are dissolved by water ( chemical weathering |
Meanders | Bends or curves in a stream or river |
moraine | Piles of sediment that are left by the front of a glacier as it receds |
Oxidation | Breakdown of rocks by chemical reactions of the rock with oxygen ; rust ( chemical weathering) |
Parallel/scratches | Created when a glacier scrapes over the rocks below it acting like a giant piece of sandpaper |
Physical weathering | Breakdown of rocks into smaller pieces without a change in rock type |
Soil | Composed of weathered rock particles and organic matter; sustains plant growth |
