Planes, Regions, Quadrants, Cavities

Frontal (Coronal) Plane | Divides body into front and back |
Midsagittal Plane | Divides body into equal left and right parts |
Transverse Plane | Horizontal cut to create equal upper and lower parts |
LUQ | Left Upper Quadrant |
RUQ | Right upper Quadrant |
RLQ | Right lower Quadrant |
LLQ | Left lower Quadrant |
2 Major Cavities | Ventral Cavity and Dorsal Cavity |
Ventral cavities (front of body) include | Thoracic Cavity, Abdominal Cavity, Pelvic Cavity, Abdominalpelvic Cavity |
Thoracic Cavity | Lungs, Heart, Aorta, Esophagus, Trachea |
Abdominal Cavity | Separated from the thoracic by the diaphragm contains Liver, Bladder, Spleen, Stomach, Pancreas, Intestines, and Kidneys |
Pelvic Cavity | Urinary Bladder and the Reproductive organs |
Abdominopelvic | Space between the diaphragm and the groin includes both abdominal and pelvic cavities |
Dorsal cavities (Backside) | Cranial Cavity and Spinal Cavity |
Cranial Cavity | Contains the Brain |
Spinal Cavity | Contains the nerves of the spinal cord |
