Finding the likelihood of an event
Term | Definition |

Experiment | An activity involving chance in which results are observed |
Trial | Each observation of an experiment is a trial |
Outcome | Each result is an outcome. |
Event | A set of one or more outcomes is an event |
Probability of an event {written P(event)} | It measures the likelihood that the event would occur |
Impossible | 0/0% chance that it would happen |
Unlikely | It could happen, but could not happen because there is little of it (it is uncertain) |
As likely as not | There is a fifty-fifty chance that something could happen |
Likely | There is a lot of it, but all of it isn't that kind |
Certain | It is 100% sure that it is going to happen |
Sample space | A set of all possible outcomes of an event |
Probability of an event | number of times the event occurs/ total number of equally likely possible outcomes. |
