Mohs Hardness Scale a system listing ten minerals that the hardness of other minerals can be compared with minerals.
Luster how the surface of a mineral appears when it reflects light.
Hardness relative ability of a solid, such as a mineral.
Cleavage splitting of minerals along flat surface.
Fracture tendency of a mineral to break into a certain shape.
Streak the color of mineral in powder form.
Crystalization the process by which atoms are arranged to forma mineral with a crystal structure
Solution a mixture in which one substance is dissolved in water leave a solution
Vein Narrow slab of a mineral that is much different from the surrounding rock
Geode a round, hollow rock that is often lined with mineral crystals.
