Enlightenment Political and Legal Traditions of England and to the ideas of a cultural movement. (American Rights)
Monarch King or Queen.
Legislature A Lawmaking body- known as the Parliament.
Precedent Ruling in an earlier case that was similar.
Common Law System of Law.
Natural Law Are Life, Liberty, and property that no Government could take away.
Social Contract An Agreement among the people in a society.
Colony A Group of people in one place who are ruled by that parent country elsewhere.
Joint-Stock Company Investors partial ownership and a share in future profits.
Charter A Written document granting land and authority to set up colonial governments.
Compact An Agreement or contract, among a group of people.
Proprietary Colony Which the owner, or proprietor, owned that land and controlled the government.
Royal Colony One owned and ruled directly by the king.
Religious Dissenters Those who followed a faith other than the official religion in England. The Anglican Region.
Puritans Wanted to reform, or purify, the Anglican Region.
Pilgrams People on a religious journey.
Toleration Putting up with.
Indentured Servant Possible for poor people to come to the colonies.
Plantation Large Estate.
Triangular Trade The Pattern of Trade that Developed among the American, Africa, and Europe.
Tidewater Area's of Flat, low plain, near the seacoast of Virginia and North Carolina.
Egalitarianism Spirit of Equality.
Mercantilism The Theory that a country's power depends on its wealth.
Boycott Refuse to British Goods. (America)
Repeal Cancel.
Delegate Representatives.
Independence Self-Reliance and freedom from Outside Control.
