What is demography? The statistical study of human populations.
What is Population Density? The average number of people living in an area.
What is birthrate? The number of births each year for every 1,000 people.
What is death rate? The total number of deaths each year per 1,000 people.
What are emigrants? People who leave a country to live somewhere else.
What is a Push Factor? Factors that cause a person to leave location.
What is a pull factor? Factors that cause a person to go to a location.
What are refugees? People who have been forced to leave and cannot return to their homes.
What is culture? All of the features of a persons’ way of life including.
What is a Cultural Region? An area which people have many shared culture traits.
What is an Ethnic Group? A human population that shares a common culture or ancestry.
What is Acculturation? When a individual or group adopts some of the traits of another culture.
What is Cultural Innovation? new ideas that a culture adapts.
What is Cultural Diffusion? When an idea of innovation spread from one person or group to another and is adopted.
What is Globalization? When connections around the world increase and cultures become more alike.
What is Traditionalism? Following longtime practices and opposing many new ideas.
What is Fundamentalism? Any case where people believe in following traditional beliefs or teachings.
What is dialect? A regional variety of a language.
What is Lingua Franca? A world language that is used for business and communication.
What is Ethnic religion? Focus on one ethnic group and have not spread to others.
What is an Animalist religion? Religions that believe in the presence of spirits and forces of nature.
What is Polytheism? The belief in many gods.
What is Universalizing Religions? Seeking to spread their religions.
What is Monotheism? The belief of one god.
