Unit 7 Circles

Circle vocabulary 7th grade

Area the measurement attribute that describes the number of square units a figure or region covers
Composite Figure a figure that is composed of two or more two-dimensional figures
Pi (π) the ratio of the circumference to the diameter of a circle
Polygon a closed figure with at least 3 sides, where all sides are straight (no curves)
Quarter circle one-fourth of a circle
Semicircle half of a circle
Two-dimensional figure a figure with two basic units of measure, usually length and width
Positive Rational Numbers any positive number that can be expressed as the quotient or fraction p/q of two integers
Radius is the length of a line segment from the center of the circle to the outside of a circle.
Diameter A line segment that passes through the center of a circle and has endpoints on the circle
Circumference the distance around a circle
