Question | Answer |
---|---|
Weathering | A mechanical or chemical surface process that breaks down rocks into smaller piecces |
mechanical weathering | breaks rocks into smaller pieeces without changing the them chemically |
chemical weathering | when the chemical composition of rocks of rocks change |
SOIL | THE MIXTURE OF WEATHERED ROCK, ORGANIC MATTER, WATER, AIR THAT SUPPORTS THE GROWTH OF PLANT LIFE |
EROSION | wearing away andremoval of rocks or sidiiment |
mass movement | when gravity alone causes rock or sediment to move down a slope |
creep` | sediments move slowly downhill freezing and thawing occur as ice ,expanding it pushes sediments up then as soil th thaws sediments push further down |
slump | mass of rock or sediment moves downhill, leaving a curved scar |
deflation | the erosion by wind |
abrasion | form of erosion that can make pits in rocks and produces smoth and polished surfaces |
run-off | water that flows over Earths skurface |
