What prevents Danforth from doing what they ask of him to do? His ego: he is more concerned about his own authority.
Why does Rev. Hale blame himself for those who are to be hanged? He lead the beginning investigations.
What does Hale and Danforth ask Elizabeth to do? They both want to convince Proctor to lie.
Does Elizabeth directly ask John to lie? No, but she states that she wants him to live and wants him to make that decision.
How did Giles Corey die? He is crushed by weights.
How has Elizabeth changed in her feeling toward Johns affair? Elizabeth said that it was her fault because she did not show enough love towards John.
What reason does John give for "confessing" For his family.
Why (do you think) does John refuses to sign the confession? He feels it is wrong because people already died for what they believe in.
What does Elizabeth attribute this to? No, he has finally found his goodness.
