Solvent Extraction Solutions (Solid in liquid) Use: an immiscible solvent dissolves at least one but not all of the solids present (Paint thinner and iodine mixture with water)
Recrystallization Solutions (Solid in liquid) Use: one solid is dissolved, the liquid is not wanted (impure substance and want pure substance)
Distillation Solutions (Liquid in liquid) Use: two or more liquid is present with different boiling points
Solvent Extraction Solutions (Liquid in liquid) Use: immiscible solvent dissolves at least one of the liquids present
