Science Vocabulary
Term | Definition |

Volume | The amount of space something occupies; the amount of space something takes up. |
Mass | The amount of matter in an object or sample. |
Matter | Anything that has mass and volume. |
Compress (verb) | Reduce the volume of something by applying force or pressure. |
Open System | Matter can be transferred into or out of the system. |
Particle | The smallest piece of a substance that is still that substance. |
Force | A push or a pull. |
Stock Solution | A large volume of reactant that has a premeasured concentration |
Excess Reagent Or Excess Reactant | The extra reactant that remains after the chemical reaction has ended. |
Limiting Reagent Or Limiting Reactant | The reactant that limits how much product can be formed in a chemical reaction; the reaction stops when all of the limiting reagent is used up. |
