Rate of change | A ratio that compares the amount of change in a dependent variable to the amount of change in an independent variable. |
Capacity | The amount a container can hold when filled (ounces, pints, quarts, and liters) |
Customary | The measurement system often used in the United States |
Length | inches, feet, yards, centimeters, and meters |
Mass | the amount of matter that an object takes up (grams, milligrams, and kilograms) |
Metric System | A decimal system of weights and measures that is used universally in science and commonly throughout the world |
proportion | An equation that states that two ratios are equivalent. |
Percent | A ratio comparing a number to 100. |
Ratio | A comparison of two quantities by division. |
Weight | The heaviness of a person or thing (Pounds and ounces) |
Conversion Factor | a mathematical tool for converting between units of measurement. |
Constant | A value that does not change |
Equivalent Ratios | Ratios that name the same comparison |
Rate | A ratio that compares two quantities measured in different units. |
Percent Increase | A percent change describing an increase in a quantity. |
Percent Decrease | A percent change describing a decrease in a quantity |
Percent of Change | The amount stated as a percent that a number increases or decreases. |
Unit Rate | A rate in which the second quantity in the comparison is one unit |
