Gemetry part #2
Question | Answer |
---|---|
Cone | A 3-d figure with one curved surface, one flat surface(usually circular), one curved edge and one vertex |
Volume | The number of cubic units it takes to fill a figure |
Pythagorean Theorem | The sum of the square of the lengths of the legs of a right triangle is equal to the square of the length of the hypotenuse |
Leg | In a right triangle, one of the two sides that form the right angle |
Interior Angle | An angle on the inside of a polygon |
Hypotenuse | The longest side of a right triangle |
Face | A plane figure that serves as one side of a solid figure |
Exterior Angle | An angle on the out side of a polygon |
Dimensions | The lengths of a geometric figure/ The number of coordinates needed to locate a point in space |
Base of a Solid Figure | A plane figure. If the solid is a cylinder or prism, there are two bases that are parallel and congruent |
Area | The measure, in square units, of the interior region of a 2-d figure or the surface of a 3-d figure |
Altitude | Height |
Adjacent | Next to |
Right Triangle | A triangle that has one 90° angle |
Quadrilateral | A four-sided polygon |
Pyramid | A polyhedron whose base is a polygon and whose other faces are triangle that share a common vertex |
Perpendicular Lines | forming right angles |
Surface Area | The total area of the faces(including bases) and curved surfaces of a solid figure |
Cylinder | A 3-d figure with two parallel and congruent circles as bases, one curved surface , two curved edges and no verticals |
