TermDefinition
Condensation Water that collects as droplets on a cold surface when humid air is in contact with it.
Evaporation When water turns into molecules.
Condensation Is the change of water from its gaseous form (water vapor) into liquid water.
Groundwater Water held underground in the soil or in pores and crevices in rock.
High Pressure A whirling mass of cool, dry air that generally brings fair weather and light winds.
Low Pressure A whirling mass of warm, moist air that generally brings stormy weather with strong winds.
Water Cycle Is the journey water takes as it circulates from the land to the sky and back again.
Tempreture The measurement of how hot or cold something is.
Run-Off The part of the water cycle that flows over land as surface water instead of being absorbed into groundwater or evaporating.
Water Vapor Is one of the greenhouse gases, which help to trap the earth's heat.
Current a body of water or air moving in a definite direction, especially through a surrounding body of water or air in which there is less movement.
Gulf Stream The Gulf Stream, together with its northern extension towards Europe, the North Atlantic Drift, is a powerful, warm, and swift Atlantic ocean current that originates at the tip of Florida,
Coriolis Effect an effect whereby a mass moving in a rotating system experiences a force (the Coriolis force ) acting perpendicular to the direction of motion and to the axis of rotation.
Upwelling a rising of seawater, magma, or other liquid.
Salinity is a measure of how much salt is dissolved in water.
El Nino an irregularly occurring and complex series of climatic changes affecting the equatorial Pacific region and beyond every few years, characterized by the appearance of unusually warm, nutrient-poor water off northern Peru and Ecuador.
