PM Terminology

Revison of terms for PM for Examination

TermMeaning
Milestone A milestone, by definition, has duration of zero and no effort, and are like interim goals in the project.
Duration Time taken to complete a task.
Predecessor A task that needs to be completed before another task starts.
Network Diagram (blank)
Critical Path The activities that lie on it cannot be delayed without delaying the project.
Task Activities which must be completed to acheive project goal
Float The difference between the time available for performing a task and the time required to complete it. The amount of time that an activity may be delayed from its early start with out delaying the project finish date
Resource Money, Equipemnt and/or people needed to complete a task
Slack time the amount of time that an activity can be delayed past its earliest start or earliest finish without delaying the project.
Scope Defined and specific project beginning and end points. Normally refers to budget or duration of project.
