What is weathering? the process by which rocks break and decay over time
what is the core? its the center of the earth were tempatures and pressure are very high
what is the innner core made of? `a solid
what is the outer core made of? liquid metal like iron and nickel
what is the mantle? the layer after the core in between the core and the crust; the heavest layer
what is the crust? the outer most layer aorund the mantle; 25 miles thick
what is magma? liquid rock in the earth's surface
what is lava? magma that has reached the earth's surface
what is plate tectonics? it explains how forces within the earth create landforms
the earths surface broken into what? several, large, slow moving, plates
what is sediment rock? small particles of rock, gravel and sand and mud that was made that way from weathering
what is erosion? the movement of material on the surface from location to location; it is caused by wind water and ice
what is glaciers? thick masses of ice that can help erode the rock and moving sediment
what is a plateau? an elevated flatland that rises sharply above nearby land on at least one side
what is alluvial fan? sediment eroded from moutains to the base of moutains
what is a delta? acumulated sediment at the opening of oceans
