Lunar Eclipse | when Earth is between the sun and the moon |
Terrestrial Planet | pertaining to Earth |
Jovain Planet | pertaining to Jupiter |
Asteroid | a piece of rock or metal, usually found orbiting the sun between Mars and Jupiter |
Comet | space object of dust and rock particles |
Meteoroid | large pieces of dust and rock |
Meteor | a meteoroid that burns upon entry into Earth's atmosphere |
Meteroite | a meteoroid that hits a moon or planet |
Electromagnetic Spectrum | arrangement of electromagnetic waves |
Photon | quantum of electromagnetic radiation |
Doppler Effect | shift in frequency of electromagnetic radiation |
Refracting Telescope | optical telescope using a double convex lens |
Reflecting Telescope | optical telescope that uses a concave mirror |
Radio Telescope | type of telescope that collects and records radio waves |
Hubble Telescope | telescope launched into orbit in 1990 |
