Globe | A spherical model of the earth |
Map | Shows the earth on parts of it on a flat surface |
Meteorologist | Studies the Earth's atmosphere; monitors, studies, and forecasts the weather. |
Geologist | Studies the history and structure of the Earth as it is recorded in rocks. |
Seismologist | Studies and monitors earthquake activity |
Volcanologist | Studies and monitors volcanic activity |
Tornado | Is a violent rotating column of air extending from a thunderstorm to the ground. |
Eye | The center of the storm or "eye" is the calmest part. It has only light winds and fair weather. |
Funnel Cloud | A rotating funnel-shaped cloud forming the core of a tornado or waterspout. |
Cyclone | In the Indian Ocean, the Bay of Bengal, and Australia, these types of storms are called cyclones. |
Typhoon | In the Western Pacific Ocean, they are called typhoons. |
Water Vapor | Water that is the form of vapor, or gas. |
Greenhouse Effect | The trapping of the suns warmth in the planets lower atmospshere |
Isotherms | A line on a map connecting points having the same temperature at a given time or on average over a given period. |

Stable Air Masses | Means the weather is likely to be calm. |
Unstable Air Masses | Means the weather is likely to change with very quick warning. |
Air Masses | A body of air with horizontally uniform temperature, humidity, and pressure. |
Weather | Is the state of the atmosphere, to the degree that it is hot or cold, wet or dry, calm or stormy, clear or cloudy. |
Climate | The weather conditions prevailing in an area in general or over a long period. |
Convection |
