Term | Definition |

admission tickets | Piece of paper or electronic proof indicating permission to enter an event or attraction and showing that the cost of entry has been paid. |
arcade | A business offering coin-operated games and rides; often includes opportunities for visitors to win prizes. |
attraction | A business, monument, natural structure, body of water, or other object of interest that draws tourists. |
ballet | A theatrical performance combining dance and music. |
box office | A place to buy tickets to sports, theater, musical, and other performances. |
buffet | A type of restaurant in which food is served on a large table or counter from which guests serve themselves and eat as much as they want. |
day spa | A business that offers beauty treatments for hair, skin, and nails, as well as massages, saunas and hot tubs, and other relaxation activities. |
Ferris wheel | A ride at an amusement park that holds several dozen people high off the ground on a large wheel and turns slowly; invented by George W.G. Ferris, Jr., a bridge builder, after whom the ride was named. |
guiding and touring companies | Businesses that lead people on short trips such as river rafting trips, sightseeing expeditions, and mountain climbing tours. These companies are responsible for keeping people safe and informing them about their surroundings. |
itinerary | A detailed list of activities a traveler will undertake; often includes flight, accommodation, and entertainment information. |
leisure | Rest and relaxation; activities that don’t demand a lot of responsibility or decision making. |
opera | A theatrical performance combining singing and instrumental music. |
planetarium | A huge auditorium with a dome-shaped ceiling and a projector that displays the planets and the stars on the ceiling; also provides educational activities that teach guests about the universe. |
souvenirs | Gifts and keepsakes that represent the activity, the event, or the place. |
spectating | To be present as a spectator, watching a show, a performance, or an event. |
Tour de France | An annual championship bike race that takes place in France. |
venue | Location of an event, such as a building, a sports arena, or a theater stage. |
Will Call | The office where purchased tickets are held for pickup. |
