civics the study of the rights and duties of citizenship.
citizenship the state of being vested with the rights, privileges, and duties of a citizen.
citizen a legally recognized subject or national of a state or commonwealth, either native or naturalized.
service economy where the majority of people earn their living by providing a service rather than manufacturing
value the general principles
popular sovereignty Popular sovereignty or the sovereignty of the people is the principle that the authority of the government is created and sustained by the consent of its people
institution a society or organization founded for a religious, educational, social, or similar purpose.
naturalization The process by which a foreign citizen becomes a citizen of a new country. Millions of immigrants to the United States have become American citizens.
alien a person not from america
immigrant a person who comes to live permanently in a foreign country.
deport expel (a foreigner) from a country, typically on the grounds of illegal status or for having committed a crime.
goverment the governing body of a nation, state, or community.
public policy the principles, often unwritten, on which social laws are based.
budget an estimate of income and expenditure for a set period of time.
democracy a system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives.
direct democracy s a form of government in which all laws are created by a general vote of society
representative democracy is a variety of democracy founded on the principle of elected officials representing a group of people, as opposed to direct democracy.
republic a group with a certain equality between its members.
monarchy a state that has a monarch.
majority rule the principle that the greater number should exercise greater power.
authoritarian favoring or enforcing strict obedience to authority, especially that of the government, at the expense of personal freedom.
totalitarian the character or quality of an autocratic or authoritarian individual
