Rational Numbers

positive number | a number greater than zero. |
Venn diagram | a diagram that is used to show relationships between sets. |
inequality | a mathematical sentence that shows the relationship between quantities that are not equivalent. EX. 5<8 or 5x +2 > 12 |
intergers | the set of whole numbers and their opposites. Expressed symbolically {...-3,-2,-1,0-1,2,3...} |
absolute value | the distance of a number from zero on a number line shown by the symbol | |. |
negative numbers | a number less than zero. |
opposites | two numbers that are an equal distance from zero on a number line |
rational numbers | any number that can be expressed as a ration of two integers. EX. 6 can be expressed as 6/1. 0.5 can be expressed as 1/2. |
zero | no quantity or no value |
