A List of Concepts and Vocabulary for Test 1.

TermDefinition
Hardware Physical devices which make up the parts of the computer.
Software - (Apps) Computer programs installed on your computer from a CD or downloading from the web.
Monitor TV device to display computer output.
Keyboard typewriter device for computer input.
Mouse device used to move the pointer on the monitor.
CPU – Central Processing Unit box which contains all electronics which make the computer work.
Audio sound produced from the computer through headphones or speakers.
Hard drive (local disc) - C: drive drive inside the computer for saving files and programs.
File server (Home directory) - H: drive central computer on a network for storing and serving files.
Optical drive - D: drive drive that reads DVDS and CD’s. This drive can also burn CD’s and DVD’s.
Flash Drive – (E: drive) removable drive placed in the USB port to save your files to carry with you.
Network computers linked together to a file server.
Printer device that outputs information on paper.
Laser printer uses toner (black or colored powder) and makes a photocopy.
Ink Jet printer uses an ink cartridge to spray ink on the page. (Black, Yellow, Magenta, Cyan)
