Luster the way light interacts with the surface
Streak The color of the powder of a rock or mineral
Chemical Rock Sedimentary rock formed by evaporation of a liquid
Clastic rock Sedimentary rock formed by the pressing of sediment over time through compaction and cementation
Foliated Rock Metamorphic rock that have grains arranged by parallel bands
Deposition Sediment settles out of wind or water that carried it
Compaction sediment is pressed together growing thicker layers over time
Cementation Process that dissolves minerals crystallize and glue sediment together
Sediment Material that is transported and deposited by wind, water, and ice, precipitated from a liquid, or deposits of organic origin
Rock cycle A model that describes the formation, breakdown, and reformation of a rock in Earth's crust
