Computer Terms

Basic computer terms.

TermDefinition
Internet The global communication network that allows almost all computers worldwide to connect and exchange information.
Mouse A hand-operated electronic device that controls the coordinates of a cursor on your computer screen as you move it around on a pad; on the bottom of the device is a ball that rolls on the surface of the pad.
website A group of connected pages on the World Wide Web containing information on a particular subject.
Enter A key on a keyboard or keypad used to enter or confirm a command or other textual input.
Tab A key on a computer keyboard that, when pressed, inserts a special ASCII character used for formatting text, as in indenting a line or block of text.
File A document you create on a computer program.
Document A typed work you create on a computer program.
Spreadsheet A document in Excel with rows and columns to create lists or keep track of numbers.
Scroll To move up or down on the computer screen.
Dropdown menu At an arrow, click to see more choices.
Save Click to save your work or document on the computer.
Copy Creates a duplicate.
Paste Inserts information or pictures from the clipboard from another location.
Font Size The size of the letters you type.
Bold Makes typed letters darker.
Underline Inserts a line under typed words.
Hard drive The inside of the computer tower or box. Stores computer programs and files.

Voices
